Ray Natraoro has carved 19 Salish dugout canoes. To this program he will bring his insight into what it takes to transform a tree into a seagoing canoe. Choosing the right tree in the forest to carve a canoe is no simple task. Any tree that is chosen needs to exhibit some very special characteristics. Master canoe carver Natraoro will talk about how these specific characteristics determine the destiny of the tree.
